INSTRUCTOR COACHING
Martial arts
instructors help people learn the skills they need to take part safely
and to the best of their ability in a particular martial arts
discipline.
As a martial arts instructor you would:
• Demonstrate techniques, explaining the principles behind them
• Coach students, breaking techniques down into simple moves when
working with beginners
• Develop training programmes
• Observe and assess students, and give them feedback on their progress
• Take responsibility for the health and safety of students, and for
teaching safe training habits.
You could work with both adults and children, instructing them at an
appropriate level.
To train as a martial arts instructor you would need a coaching
qualification recognized by your National Body
(W.B.F UK World Bujutsu Federation United Kingdom) for your martial arts
discipline.
Before completing a
coaching qualification you would need:
• To be aged at least 18 for full Instructor level 1
• To be at least 15 for assistant Instructor levels 2 , 3
• A minimum grade approved by the W.B.F UK (1st Dan / Degree and above)
• £5 million Professional Indemnity Insurance
• A recommendation from your recognised W.B.F UK club / association
before attending an
W.B.F UK instructor award course.
W.B.F UK usual
expects you to have held an assistant instructor level 2 qualification
for a minimum of six months.
You will also need
professional indemnity insurance,
and (if you work with children and other vulnerable groups) child
protection training and Criminal Records Bureau enhanced
DBS disclosure is also required.
